Surf Club Update

Thursday 17 August 2017

Time for a Surf Club update.

The most important news is we are open again for our Friday night BBQs. Last Friday was a bit quiet but we are hoping things will ramp up again from now on. The weather is magnificent and the view amazing - get on down and enjoy all that is on offer.

Tomorrow night we have the Junior Netballers cooking up a storm. Come on down and support these guys and grab a meal.

So what else is happening? The bathrooms continue to progress and we are hopeful they will be finished and painted in the near future. The new first aid room has a few new poles and a new slab and it to won't be far away from taking shape.

Our observation tower has been dismantled, carted away and is in the process of being rebuilt. There is so much happening it is hard to keep up with it all.

The new Rio Tinto outdoor kitchen is almost complete. It looks unbelievable and will be a major asset to our club and community. Power will be connected this week, water and drainage over the weekend and then the gas fitter. Fingers crossed we will be up and running next week. It has two new flash as BBQs, a chip and a separate fish cooker, a hot and a cold bainmarie. 316 stainless benches to finish it all off with a sink and hand washing basin.
This has to be seen to be believed.

Once complete we will be offering an exciting change once a month to our world famous BBQ. This is going to be very exciting and we will let you know more closer to the time. You have good reason to get excited!!

The new clubhouse is also making great progress. The roof is on, the new coldroom almost complete and the exterior walls will be going up very soon.

We have had some really annoying delays in getting some vital components manufactured and delivered on time so we are not hopeful about being finished for the NT Titles on the 16th September. A bit disappointing but not the end of the world.

At this stage we may be a week or two at worst later than expected. Delays on big projects are inevitable unfortunately.

It's really exciting times in downtown Nhulunbuy. I was at the Gove Boat Club briefly today and heard all about their upcoming renovations. Wow. What they are getting done is going to be a massive improvement and only add to an already great establishment. Can't wait to see the end product.

It is so good to see the local clubs doing so well. That is only possible because of the support we all receive from everyone in town. Your support is what keeps us all afloat.

Thank you.

Remember we are patrolling every Sunday until 30th September so get on down for a swim. Last weekend Little Bondi was picture perfect and it was great to see so many people come down and enjoy the day.

Plans are progressing well for the NT Surf Titles being held here on the weekend of 16th September. We have teams from Broome, Darwin, Mindil Beach and Ellis Beach (Nth Queensland), coming over.

We are expecting a really good turnout for this event. Pop it in your diary and try and get on down to watch the action.

Closer to the time we will let you know more details about what will be on offer. The Friday and Saturday nights will be an open invitation and everyone is invited to get on down and be involved.

It's going to be a hoot.

So that is pretty much all the news from us. Yes, there is a awful lot happening to your club. Come down and check it out for yourself.
